Welcome to Filmoor-Standschützenhütte

General Information

The Austrian Army began building the Filmoor-Standschützen hut in 1976. The hut itself is named in memory of the soldiers from Lesachtal who fought around Filmoor and the Kinigat summit during WWI. It is situated on the main Karnischen ridge, high above the Tirol section of the Gail valley in East Tirol.

The mountains around the Filmoor-Standschützen hut are a great experience at any time of year. In summer hikers and climbers can take advantage of the nearby “Filmoorhöhe” (2457m) and the climbing route to “Großen Kinigat” (2689m). The area surrounding the hut is also a favorite for ski touring in winter.

KHW 403

The Filmoor-Standschützen hut is not only known for its sensational views of the “Großen Kinigat”. Alongside a plethora of opportunities for mountain photography, this hut also offers an excellent food and wine menu. Completely unexpected, but much welcomed in this spectacular mountain environment.

Next Stage

The next stop along the KHW is the Porze hut. The route between the Filmoor-Standschützen and Porze huts is approximately 6,8 kms and takes around 3 hours hiking time.
