General Information

Manufacturing regional produce, in particular cheese, during the summer months (June – end of season) Straniger Alm is one of 13 members of the organisation "Gailtaler Almkäse e.U." . Cows and goats grazing the alpine pastures produce milk of a particular high quality due to the rich content of herbs on these lush pastures. Gailtaler Alpine cheese is well known for its exceptional taste and quality.

Straniger Alm is also a popular destination for day guests arriving by car, mountain bike or on foot. It is an easy drive on well maintained dirt roads from Stranig or Goderschach. For the hike from the valley to Straniger Alm allow around 3.5 hrs.

Straniger Alm is the perfect starting point for many high alpine hikes (eg. Kleinkordinalm, Waidegger Alm - Waidegger Höhe, Törl - Findenigkopfel - Zollnersee.

Next Stage

The hike from Straniger Alm to Kleinkordinalm only takes approx. 1 hrs over a distance of 2.8 km.
